INTERACTIVE: Planned and existing mass transit options in the Twin Cities

Existing transit lines in the Metro-area include the Hiawatha light rail, Northstar commuter rail. The Central Corridor is currently under construcrtion and links five major centers of activity in the Twin Cities region - downtown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, the Midway area, the state Capitol complex and downtown St. Paul. The Southwest Corridor light rail would run along a 15-mile route between Eden Prairie and downtown Minneapolis, passing through Minnetonka, Hopkins and St. Louis Park. Other projects include the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit, Northstar Commuter Rail, Cedar Avenue Bus Rapid Transit and the Bottineau Boulevard Corridor, (not shown because the alignment is not yet final.)
