foolish. Nothing about this future staff interests me in any way. Why didn't they hire these extra coaches for John? They let him struggle with shoe strings. He deserved more than this. John was given no support or any extra staff. SJU let down John in every possible way. John deserved more. SJU president should have come in and asked John, "I see your value. What can we do to support you at 85 so that you can be at the top again?" They had the best offensive coordinator in the conference. Jim out scored and out coached Kurt for years. Gary is a coward and losses my respect today. Cancel my seats for the past 40 years.

Dude, its DIII football. Gags is 85, time to let him retire and move on, and SJU did just that. Let's see what happens with the new regime before you jump off the bandwagon. YOu have to let the new HC pick his staff. No one would take the job if you couldn't pick your staff. For Ramler to go 7-3 at Carlton is a miracle, as football has no tradition there, really, and it's a much tougher school to get into than SJU - and I have kids that went to SJU! If you cancel your seat after watching Johnnie's football for 40 years over this, you are only hurting yourself. I've gone to many games over the years - it's FUN. You can't be this serious over DIII football.

^ same thing Johnny Blood told John when he came to SJU. It seems to me Carleton wouldn't have let him go if he was so great. Nothing against Kurt. I know him well. I just think Jim was much better. (And so does anyone who understands offense)

I played for John Gagliardi, and have been a loyal fan for over 30 years. I also personally know many past and current players. My wife teaches in a 6A school that has placed several players on the team and TO A MAN, they find Jim Gagliardi a pain to play for, from not letting players know where they stand, to berating them for errors on the field. Some had gone as far as saying they would consider not playing next year if Jim were to continue as OC. The vast majority of alums would like to see a change in offensive philosophy and play-calling. Ramler brings a keen understanding of the game from the perspective of a QB. Great hire Gary and SJU....

This announcement is the silver lining behind an otherwise lackluster "national search." Ramler is an offensive wizard, and he also has Caruso's number.

Kurt will do well in Collegeville. He knows the game, has played the game at an extremely high level, AND has a personality that the kids will love. Great hire for Johnny football - and that's coming from a Tommy.

I played for Jim as well. I was on the offensive line these past four years. Say what you want about Jim. But SVENNY's comment is NOT true. He did not berate players on the field. I was with him throughout the practices for four years and I did not hear that, nor is it true. You must be hearing from kids who 1. did not play offense 2. were not able to start and blamed him. The only negative comments I heard from him were about the defense. And Gary made sure to get him back for anything he has ever said. I will continue to support Johnnie football but not the lies about Jim who I enjoyed playing for.

This seems to me like an Administration hire and not a "Gary" hire. I know I beat you out for the job , but I want you on my staff. Not! I am going out on a limb, a very short one at that, and guess SJU won't need to conduct a national search for their next football coach because he'll already be in Stearns County.

Why don't they build a hockey arena on campus?
