Buying Albertsons was a huge financial mistake. It'll take a while to recover from that one.

They are back to where they were. Too bad for all of us who lost our jobs to this failed attempt at bigger is better.

I hope that SUPERVALU will move back into their Original Headquarters buidling now. The building on Valley View Road in Eden Prairie. Last I checked, that building was for sale in an Internet posting.

Yes!!! That makes my 50,000 shares at $1.84 each I bought 2 months ago worth much, much more. When a company generates over $1 Billion of cash a year and is profitable, bet on it after all the naysayers have had their day.

You can either be in the retail business or the wholesale business. You can't do both well. This actually might help them win back the Target grocery business they lost a couple years ago. No retailer likes buying from a supplier who is also their competitor. Also, the Jewel/Osco stores are so dated and so unionized, nobody is going to be able to operate those well. Biggest question remaining is if the PE firm can create a single national brand in the grocery category. I doubt the UCFW will allow them.

Glad to see Cub is staying with them. My wife and I shop Cub all the time for our groceries. Great people at our Cub store too.

877 stores for $3.3 Billion: That works out to $3.9 million dollars per store. Seems like a fire sale.

I am also very happy to see CUB staying. Our family has shopped at CUB Foods since the first one opened in 1967!

I saw it mentioned in a comment recently that Cerberus is the beast that guards the gates of hell.
