St. Paul, which had picked the Minneapolis firm earlier, selected it again, this time over two competitors. The aim is for a 2015 opening.

Exciting. Bring it on. I believe that the ballpark is a perfect fit for St. Paul and Lowertown. The light rail will deliver users of the park two blocks from its' front door!

Let's make it clear that the Saints are puting nothing into this. Their $10M "share" is the City selling bonds and the Saints paying it back by paying annual rent, which they would have to do anyway.

I'd really like to see the Saints become a minor league affiliate of the Twins. I'd like to see the AAA club more there but that might be asking too much. Can we at least move AA here? It'd be so nice to pay a couple of bucks in St. Paul to see upcoming Twins players. Bring Twins baseball to both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Pip Dip Chip: I am not sure you can have AAA club in the same market as a major league team, but I could be wrong about that. I do know that years ago in a minor league market, the Saturday afternoon major league game of the week on CBS/NBC/ABC television would be preempted when a minor league team was playing within 50 or 75 miles or some such distance. That said, I presume that Major League Baseball still probably looks out for the farm teams to some extent.

Lets see the bid package(s) of ALL the bidders. I think the taxpayers got 'hustled' again.

What, breaking water mains in one downtown wasn't enough, they have to hit St. Paul now too?

I love the Saints. The spirit of the games are much more lively, spirited, than the Twins (they're great in their own right). Going to a Saints game is and should be a different experience than the Twins. They're original.
