You can't change the violence until you change the hearts and minds of people. Until people learn and accept that violence is not ok, it doesn't matter if it is guns or knives or hammers or any other weapon. The violence will not stop.

I be they will have plenty of armed guards on hand while they discuss disarming the law abiding citizen.

Increase penalties for using a gun in a crime, juveniles in illegal possession of a gun, selling guns to criminals, and vigorously pursue gun thefts from gun businesses. Obviously as D.C., Chicago, and New York, Austrailia, and the 1994 AWB show us, bans don't work.

While I agree their needs to talks on how to keep guns out of the hands of people who might use them like we have seen at Sandy Hook. But taking gun rights from law abiding citizens will be the lawmakers express ticket out of their cushy job come next election.

I thought these people had real work to do other than hand wringing over partisan political agendas they have no authority over at anything less than teh constitutional amendment level. I must say it would be interesting to See Mr. Rybeck's legacy remain an anti civl liberties effort though, that would be so fitting.

"it doesn't matter if it is guns or knives or hammers or any other weapon"...................That simplistic argument doesn't hold water. Which would you rather face in a theater or a school room? That is just hiding behind the skirts of the 2nd amendment, ranger78. NOBODY wants to ban guns; they just want regulation on unnecessary firepower and ammunition capacity. It's just too easy.

I disagree with jd14317, as guns make it much, much, much easier to do violent acts. Knives, hammers or other weapons require one to get up close and personal with the victims.
