So, when a school superintendent states that she would like armed police in her schools, there is no outcry or name calling, but when the Executive Vice President for the NRA, Wayne LaPierre said the exact same thing, he is a crazed gun nut and a kook who is only out give guns to everyone.....what a bunch of hypocrites.....
Ridiculous. It was a random event by a mentally disturbed individual. The chance of a second occurence is the same for a school throughout the world.
First of all, LaPierre IS an irrational gun nut. But the reason that the school supt is calling for a police presence is that the community is incredibly traumatized and I don't blame them for needing that temporary support. But they can't afford to hire additional police to be premanently stationed at every school. There is no way to predict another attack and it's not going to make sense for the long term. For the same reason, we can't station armed guards at every shopping mall and movie theater. And grocery store and work place, etc etc. It would be more efficient to register and monitor every gun nut in the community. We have had more than enough shootings over the past ten years to develop a profile of the next shooter. And maybe every American IS NOT entitled to own a baby-killing machine gun with extended clips and stockpile thousands of rounds of ammo. That would be a major tip off. I'd personally not want someone like that living next door to me. What if they lose it some day and decide to spray up all of the other houses on the block? I'm sure the police aren't happy knowing they may have to deal with someone with that kind of armory at their disposal.
My point exactly Spiker!, though editors wouldn't post it here. I understand that David Gregory's kids go to a school with armed guards as well, yet he both broke the law and harassed the NRA president on his show meet the press. Hypocrites really shouldn't be entertained at this level.
Meanwhile a gun-nut blogger/gunstore owner gets shot in his shop. Maybe if he had just been armed.....oh wait! I'm guessing we should have armed police at all stores, right?
