The St. Paul native and former Twin fell 42 votes shy of enshrinement. The next ballot he appears on will be his last.

I think it sucks. They can hide behind stats but look what he accomplished. He may not be the strongest candidate in the Hall but he is not the weakest either. If he had played in a big market he might well be in. Writers say some cheaters belong, but how do you measure there accomplishments without the enhancers? You cannot. It is not simply a character issue but you cannot definitely say whether they would even have been a candidate without PED's.

He belongs in the HOF. I'd like to see the list of all those who have a vote.

Simple question : why wouldn't you vote him in?

It's unfortunate the sport writer voters only think of "active" news versus player performance. It's a travesty Mr. Morris is even at 14 writeins, much less confronted with steroid jerks. Besides some great stats (voters worry about long term ERA) 1991 WS plus all other performance earns his spot. Steroid abusers killed him this year.

Greatest game I ever saw pitched in my life was that Game 7 performance. He should have been voted in.

If you look at Jack's picture carefully, you will see he has a black eye.... oh no.... wait... that would be the baseball writers association that has the black eye.... shame on them!

Minnesota/Detroit campaign anyone? Maybe we can get some players on other pro sports teams to wear Jack's number? In GREAT BIG NUMBERS!!!!

To use the steroid boys as the reason is just wrong. Baseball needs to find a mirror and in a big hurry too.

to the voters of the HOF.... since morris pitched in the 'steroid era' doesn'tit stand to reason that his win/loss record, and his stats, wouldn't be as good as those pitchers who pitched in prior eras???

I wouldn't vote him in because I also don't think Jamie Moyer belongs in the HoF. If you put their career numbers right next to each other, pretty much no difference. Morris's main accomplishment is he stayed healthier than all of the many pitchers who were better pitchers than him in the 80's, and had a great Detroit offense to back him up in the 80's. I think Game 7 was great, but his overall post season performance was no better than his regular season performance. He also was saved by two plays in which Twin's defenders managed to fake out base runners on hits that should have scored runs.
