Court affirms feds' decision not to use wolves to thin elk in Rocky Mountain National Park

A strange decision given all the scientific evidence on the benefits of wolf reintroduction in Yellowstone National Park. However this is still a very much anti-wolf part of the States so it's hardly surprising. What's worrying though is the use of "trained volunteers" to help shoot the Elk, this is hunting plain and simple and for them to argue otherwise is ridiculous. It would be interesting to know what this volunteer solution entails, i.e. how do they find the volunteers, do they receive any "expenses" for their kind help?

Given the history of unintended consequences, lies and lawsuits the Yellowstone wolf project brought I don't blame Colorado for not wanting anything to do with this. If the wolves recover on their own fine. Killing elk by shooting them works just as well or better. Let hunters deal with them like they deer hunters at Ripley do.
