Politics and a personality are blamed for the county's decision, but commissioners cite finances.

Excellent! It is a joke that the county is being charged $78,000 to belong to an association. This is an easy budget cut in tough times. Kudos to Siverajah. This also points to the bigger issue of how much tax money government spends lobbying other branches of government for even more tax money.

$78,000 dollars???!!! What a joke. I could tell the tax payers how this commission cost them thousands more due to the ineptness within the parks system.

Before suggesting that it was a good move, do you have any idea what benefits were gained from the membership?

I love how the career politician Kordiak doesn't want to cut ties with his friends. Notice he didn't point out the benefits, just it will ruin friendships. What a joke this guy is.

This is pure politics, plain and simple. These right wingers will run Anoka County further into the ground, and it will be richly deserved. In the end, everyone gets what they want and deserve.

Maybe if we're really lucky the esteemed Chairwoman can get a vote passed to have Anoka County secede from statehood. After all, petty politics takes priority over the best interests of the taxpaying citizens, right Chairwoman?

Anoka still belongs to the Association of MN Counties and spent $48k on lobbying last year. I think they'll be alright. It's not like MICA will stop representing county interests.

Now if we could get the whole 6th district and their favorite congress person to leave the state, I could finally stop telling people I'm from Wisconsin.
