Absent an early deal to raise the nation's debt ceiling, the federal government could run out of ways to pay creditors and Social Security recipients by mid-February. - Please, where is the genius that said all of the SS money was invested in bonds and is avaialble? Ha? It's in the lock box, isn't it? If it's not there, where is it. Silly little Hobbits!

It's quite obvious Obama said a number of things just to get elected. All of you that voted for him, shame on you, this is your fault, be smarter next time.

The GOP approved every request by Bush to raise the debt ceiling and have opposed every request by Obama. Does anyone see any hypocrisy there?

The good old USA is on a fast track to the cellar and captain Obama is at the helm. Also nice scare tactics by the DEMS, anytime they want the GOP to cave on something they attach SS, Milatry or IRS refunds to it, how about holding legislature pay until they figure it out.

Just remember Congress appropriates the funds and if they are not available the President decides what will and will not be paid. The Republicans can very easily be made to look like the bad guys no matter which side of the fence you sit on. The debt will be serviced but the President can choose to delay Federal tax refund checks or payments to hospitals and doctors or shut down all the National Parks, or meat inspections, etc. There are any number of ways this could come down.
