The retailer's holiday fashions didn't sell well, but its grocery business has become a big deal.

Didn't sell well?? $120 for a kids holiday dress from a designer most people have never heard of. What did Target expect. The stuff was mostly junk from fringe designer. Brian Atwood glove... he makes shoes not gloves.

I'll pick up a few groceries from Target, their in-house brands aren't bad. But you still can't beat Walmart on low-priced goods or the regular grocers for overall selection and fresh meat, fruit and vegetables. Plus I think that Cub and Rainbow are still union shops that pay reasonable wages, but those might be going the way of the dodo.

I am really glad to see Target forcusing more on groceries. Walmart is basically non-receptive to adding new items to the grocery offerings, and will discontinue items much faster than other retailers just because they are selling as well as Walmart wants them to sell. A local Walmart doesn't carry fat-free coffee creamers at all, so I have to make a second trip to another store to purchase that item.

"Target's groceries have become fashionably fresh" Really?- you'd be lucky to find any fresh food at the Target near me on Lake St. Some dairy yes, but almost no fruits or vegetables, and the little they have is old and sad looking.

I tend to buy a lot of groceries from Target. I love their house brand and their prices are competitive. For large grocery runs, I'll never go to Walmart and always frequent a place that pays their employees a living wage.

You could sum this article up by saying: Target is killing Supervalu, period.

Target's produce section is not nearly as good as other grocers.

I shop at Target for groceries among other places.I like the fact that Target does bag your groceries.I feel that Target caters to singles and seniors more than other stores in the area. They do not overstock.Target clerks are polite. They could give lessons to clerks in other stores.

@kpwhite Target is killing Supervalu? Why not "WalMart is killing Supervalu"? Or Aldi? Or Trader Joe's? Pardon me but your bias is showing.

The only problem with Target grocery is that they only stock about 75% of the items a full size grocer stocks. I stopped the other day to get some non-grocery stuff. We needed pasturized eggs at home. Nope. Ask the red shirts and they haven't a clue. Unless it's truly a one stop shop, it's not an option.
