The injured right arm of the Vikings quarterback kept him out against the Packers, but fueled his desire for more playoff chances.

Christian, for that regular-season finale against green bay - thanks for the memory. I just wish I could erase the memories of the other 15 games this season. And, those 8 or so games last season.

I understand that Ponder was unable to throw so he had to sit. I don't like the fact that he feels compelled to justify his injury by showing off his bruises -- particularly when most of the bruise is painless blood under the skin. I also don't like the fact that Ponder seems so elated and content with the win over Green Bay in the Dome. He seems to be setting his bar lower.

The two previous comments are misguided. Ponder showed that he is a competitor. The team obviously needs a veteran backup going into next season. I would try to keep Joe Webb as a receiver/3d string quarterback; get him the ball in space! If I was POnder, I would release a picxture of the injury to rebut hte "he's not a tough guy" allegations.

It's to bad the Vikings have a wimp for a QB. They need to sign Alex Smith. As for Ponders bruised arm I've had worse and still went to my job. Ponder isn't worthy to be called a NFL QB.

I love all the doctors on here and all these self proclaimed tuff guys that can sit on their computers and call Ponder a wimp. Alot of it had to deal with the loss of hand strength to grip the ball after the injury. Its easier playing right after the hit, its when it had a few days to swell and start the healing process is the hard time.

Ponder played well for a second year player. Not as good as some other rookies around the league but then Ponder doesn't have Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon or Sidney Rice. If you can't hold on to the ball or make a throwing motion than you can't play. Frazier and Ponder did the right thing and deactivated him. Unfortunately Webb isn't a QB. Why they didn't start Bethel-Thompson is beyond me.

This is what it's come down to. We beat the Packers one game out of three and the Vikings are jumping for joy. As one of Ponder's best memories is beating the Packers at the Vikings home field. Well I guess we accomplished our goal.. mediocrity. We've become one of "those" teams. Pathetic.

Why do Ponderosa Fans keep holding onto the theory that #7 will be even better and improve in his 3rd year? Any history or proof to base this on, given his background? Nope. I firmly believe we've seen Ponder's ability and potential. He had a rollercoaster arm in College too. Folks, this wasn't a very highly scouted QB. And I'm absolutely sick of the "Ponder didn't have WR's" excuse. This guy had the best RB in the NFL, an awesome O-line, a pretty good defense and capable WR's. He had more weapons than 75% of QB's in the league!! A QB that manages 4-5 decent starts in the whole season, shouldn't be talked about as your starter next year.

I have to think that John Elway, Joe Montana, Brett Favre or Tom Brady would have found a way to play in that game and be effective.

Trade Percy Harvin and John Carlson to Arizona for Fitzgerald. Then start Fitzgerald and Wright and Simpson. Then you would be able to judge Ponder. The WR's this year took 5 seconds to get open which is not good enough to consistenly win. Unless Ponder threw a slant no one was ever open in Ponder's rythem. The Vikings should never have released Rosenfels. Sage should have been on the roster and started in Green Bay. I predict we would have won that game with Sage.
