Many times more important to society than a meaningless football game is the article that Melinda Henneberger wrote for the Washington Post on December 4, 2012. It is titled "Why I won't be cheering for old Notre Dame." Find it. It is a really good read.

I probably won't be cheering for NCAA what with the head injury problems. It was interesting that none of the networks seemed to carry the game. Looks like football will be going the way of boxing when they stopped public broadcasting in favor of closed circuit TV

Great to see NBC get their butt kicked. That's what you get for giving a college football team its own TV network. Unbelievable. Glad they lost.

I guess Jesus doesn't even like Notre Dame.

A big miscalculation on the part of the BCS. Notre Dame should never have been playing for the National Championship. Alabama's second team probably gives the first team more competition than what Notre Dame gave.

No one seriously exepcted Notre Dame to win last night although I am sure that their fans expected them to be a little more competitive. Clearly, game announcer,Brent Mussberger, assumed that the lads from South Bend would win easily given how much he oohed and ahed over every but infrequent sign of life by the Notre Dame defense or offense, no matter how much further and further the team got behind.

Say what you will about the Orange Bowl, but that at least was a close contest for three quarters. Northern Illinois didn't get behind by three touchdowns until late in the game; it took little more than a quarter for Notre Dame to fall behind by three touchdowns - and they were being shut out until late in the third quarter.

The real national championship was December 1st (SEC title game) against Georgia. This game proved that Notre Dame did not belong in competing for a title.

Anybody else need more proof that the SEC his hands down the best football conference in the nation and has been for a decade? Big 10 can't hold a candle to the SEC.

Notre Dame had no earthly business being in that game. None.
