Susan Rice is what he wanted for Sec of State and had to get rid of her, now this...not too many on either side of the isle that will support Hagel.

And as far as Hagel goes, it's time to let Israel know they can't keep up "their" terroristic attitudes any longer and expect the U.S A. people to support them.

Let's see he referenced the "Jewish lobby", and they act like there isn't one? The problem for most of the republican party is he's a moderate, which no longer has a place in their club.

So now the Republicans are going to shoot down a Republican? You'd think that they would want a person like Hagel in the Pentagon. I guess that just because it was Obama who nominated him that they oppose Hagel.

This would certainly send a loud and clear message to the Muslim world that America no longer supports Israel. Obama seems to WANT Iran to have a deliverable nuclear weapon. Having someone who in the past hast been at the very least derisive of Israel as Defense Secretary, a person who would not even declare Iran's terrorist arm, the "revolutionary guard", who were at the time and still do kill American troops, a terrorist organization, indicates Hagel does not have the mental capacity for this position. He left the Senate because his people of nebraska no longer supported him.

The hearings will illustrate just how extreme the Republican Party has become since Hagel's early days in the Senate. They would do well to find more like him instead of driving out sensible ones like he and Susan Collins.

Nominating Hagel sends a message that we aren't gearing up for war with Iran. This means that the Ayatollah's fear-mongering will ring hollow(er) with his own "subjects" and people in Iran will finish the task of overthrowing their own dictators. They are almost there, and the only thing that would interrupt the process is the galvanizing threat of American intervention. Overthrow of the Iranian theocracy from within is the ONLY way that the situation can be resolved without American bloodshed.

Israelis are allies, good friends, and good people, but I don't live in Israel. I don't pay Israeli taxes. I don't vote for Israeli politicians. Why are my elected leaders so beholden to a foreign country?
