good points. and this is exactly why i wished they would have played for OT and peterson's record last week. one will stand for decades, one lasted 6 days before producing nausea in 500,000 fans.

Straw man article. The real issue is with Webb's obvious short comings, how in the world did the Vikings put themselves in this situation with him as their only option. They needed a professional back-up QB. They had the money to have one early on, and they chose not to get one. End of season.

No way to know if they could have pulled it off, but I agree totally with you Jim. Let Joe do what he does best, which is run. It would have given us a better chance to win.

We can conclude that a great athlete doesn't necessarily translate into a great, or even serviceable, q.b. That display was almost painful to watch. I damn near fell off the couch when he tossed that lame duck straight up in the air. We've seen some of this before when T-Jack was taking the snaps. Wasn't that enough for Vikings fans? Good grief. Almost feel sorry for AP. He's busting his tail, but the q.b. play has been all over the map for most of his six seasons. 2009 was the exception, when Favre had a career year.

Truth is they went away from what worked in the first drive, after that it was trying to force the ball downfield. We would have won even if all we did was run AP and Webb every down maybe the occasional screen pass.

Please consider bringing in Alex Smith or even Tony Romo and some WRs. Webb should never start again...use him as a change-of-pace guy or even WR if he's good there. Give Ponder the clipboard and use him as the backup, which would be very nice. I still blame Childress for this mess at QB.

Musgrave has never been a competent coordinator. If he was, Atlanta would have never let him go. The two tight-end offense works great with Peterson, but is useless if you have to pass to win the game. It is true that Spielman is an awful GM when it comes to free agency, and is shown by the WRs they have, but a good OC would have easily been able to adjust the game plan this week to suit Webb's talents. After watching the first drive of the game it was obvious that the Vikes should not have thrown more the two or three times in the first half. Run AP, Run Webb, throw if you have to. Run time off the clock and that is it. Musgrave HAS TO GO!!!!

Fire Musgrave now!!! The difference between last year and this year wasn't our offense, it was because our defense could finally stop teams from coming from behind. Remember the first 5 games of last year when we were ahead going into halftime, sometimes by 3 tds, and then lost. I agree with chkstaats, even though we only got 3 points, we drove the ball. If we would've kept doing that, then Rodgers and the Packers offense isn't on the field so much and they don't score as many points.

Well, it was good in a way that Ponder couldn't go...any illusions that Webb is the answer should be dispelled at this point. The difference in QB play between the Packers and Vikings is like professional vs. high school. Just being happy to squeak into the playoffs isn't good enough for me. I'm glad we did rather than 6-10, but the fact is you can't really win a super bowl without some kind of serviceable QB play. Webb is clearly light years from that. Ponder played OK in the last game against GB, and all of a sudden some people think he's the 2nd coming. His respectable QB play was such a sharp contrast from his abysmal play for so long that it may have fooled some people. It was so refreshing to see *professional* QB play in 2009, whatever personality flaws some might think Favre has. Pump fakes on quick slants, fitting it into the 2nd window, etc. I don't think Alex Smith is any great shakes, but at least he is a serviceable NFL QB...I'd be pleased to switch our fate over to him vs. what we have. Something better would be even greater. It's practically making me sick that we were so close to having RG3...of course Frazier probably wouldn't have taken him anyway with his loyalty to Ponder. I do think Ponder is a really good option to have as a backup, but just can't see him taking us to the promised land. It's too easy for a playoff caliber defense to key on stopping Adrian in the playoffs...you simply must have some semblance of a passing attack to have a chance to advance.
