Vikings' plan works early but not often

An offensive strategy built around Adrian Peterson looked promising in the first quarter but quickly fell apart.

So, if GB dramatically changed how they played their defense (slower, protected the back-sides), where was Frasier's/Musgrave's adjustment to that? Webb runs worked well in that first drive, why didn't we do more of that than we did (noting a blocker would be needed for misdirection if the naked wasn't there with the backside defender holding his responsibility)?

Well..to be fair let's star by saying that was not a smart decision starting Webb... where is Rosenfelds?? So having that said, here I go: Mr. Joe Webb , if I can call you Mr. Because it seems to me that your brian still functions like a 12 year old kid. You are nothing but a wasted paycheck. You have been with the vikings for about 4 or 5 years now! and you haven't done anything, you spent 2 years with Favre and didn't learn anything, another year with McNabb and pick up none 0..!!! You are smiling on camera after loosing to the Packers and saying every 5 seconds that it was a learning experience.. well you have been learning for a while now and...??? what have you learned??? yesterday 4th down and 3, guess what docent run the ball, try to buy time and gets sacked... None, seriously you need to retire.!! Mr. Frazier get rid of him...

Back in the days of Jim brown, the Vikes would (sometimes) hold him to under 80 yards doing just what The Packers did last night. Taking away the cut back, staying in position. In those circumstances it's up to the offensive line to move them out of position to give AD a place to run through. Kudos to the Packers. But, if we slow down a pass rush with play action to AD, we need to be able to throw over their heads. With Webb unable to throw an accurate ball (coaching?) we didn't have a chance.

Bottom line is the Vikes don't have a legit QB. Ponder is a backup QB and Webb was kept because he came cheap. Put this on Spielman. He drafted Ponder and was going to play him come hell or high water. No way was he going to admit he screwed up. Ponder is a first round bust. Webb should have been cut a year ago.The #1 priority is to get a QB who can throw the ball. As I previously said there are several good QBs in Canada who can pass and also run. You don't have to get one in the draft. Smith from SF would be a big upgrade but he is a statue. Like I said the Vikes blew their QB of the future RG3 last year winning a meaningless game. Indy wasn't stupid. Musgrave coulda used the Pack game plan and blew the Wash game. By the way. what the H was Musgrave and Frazier thinking Saturday. Terrible game plan.

Tellin the rubes right now. Unless the Vikes get a QB they have no chance to make the playoffs next year. Any talk of a super bowl is nuts. Book it!

Love AP's quotes at the end of this piece. Let's go get a receiver or two, a serviceable backup QB, and win the Super Bowl in 2013! SKOL!!!

I place the blame for this disaster squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. They did not have a backup quarterback who was prepared to step in at a moment's notice and lead the team properly. Why on earth haven't they been preparing the backups for this potential throughout the season? With such an unproven first-string q-back, it simply requires a little forethought and planning to prepare for the possibility of injury at any time. It was k own last week that Ponder had been injured. Why wasn't Webb prepped and ready to go? Someone should lose their job(s) over this. Inexcusable!

Change a few things and get to the Superbowl. 2013 Prediction: Viking go 8-8. Defenses will follow the Packer scheme in addressing Peterson and he will be much less effective next year. Ponder doesn't have enough to make up for the difference. Harvin will be gone leaving a BIG hole and because of the 10 wins this year the Vikings will face a tougher schedule.
