Congrats to team USA and Gopher Mike Reilly. USA was definitely the better team and earned the victory. Congrats also to Stillwater coach Housley, even though he decided that Minnesota players were not good enough to be on the team ;)

That Rocco Grimaldi seems like a pretty good player. Who does he play for?

Nice hustle leading to two goals by North Dakota's Grimaldi!

This is a huge tournament in Canada and should get more attention in the US. When the US beat Canada 5-1 in the semi's on Thursday, Mark Rosen didn't even mention it in his WCCO sportscasts that night. At 6 o'clock, he chose instead to talk about Andy Reid possibly going to the Chiefs. Sad.

It was well worth the lost sleep to wake up early to see this game. Thanks to the lockout I had forgotten how exciting hockey can be.

what a awesome game.. team USA gelled at the right time and I dont even think Sweden got a shot on goal while they had their goalie pulled... I was very happy to see Canada sit on the outside and watch Russia gather up the bronze... With all the talent the Canadian team has, they had to be the chippiest team in the tourney... SAD.. Only disappointment was not seeing Mario Lucia get any ice time but I will live !!!

It's really a shame the STrib could care less about covering the U.S. team in this tournament. I'm not saying they have to pay someone to travel to Russia, but they could have at least had someone watch the games and provide ample coverage of the way this outstanding team performed. It would be one thing if we weren't playing well and weren't in the running for the gold medal, but this team was considered in the running from day 1, along with Canada, Russia, and Sweden, and they kept getting better with every game. They were a HUGE credit to America in this tournament, and they deserved to be covered as a major event.

The U.S. team's defense was by far the most dominating of all the teams in this tournament. They gave up just 9 goals in 7 games (a 1.29 GA average). Meanwhile, they were very prolific on offense as well, scoring 34 goals in 7 games (almost 5 goals per game). ......... In another interesting defensive category, in scoring by defensmen in this tournament, the #1, #2, and #3 top-scoring defensement in the entire tournament were all Americans. ........ WELL DONE GUYS!!!

Lousy TV Coverage, no local writers...no surprise. Another gloomy day for Canadian hockey fans. There are 300K juniors in USA hockey, 500K in Canada, and the gap is closing.
