Figuring out who among suspected and admitted drug cheats should be honored in baseball's museum is "just a mess."

"The Hall of Fame's darkest era" was prior to 1948, when many deserving players were denied entrance because of ethnicity.

Morris should get in because he was a great pitcher, but no other pitcher in the history of the game did more than he did in game seven.

Forget about the steroid controversy. Many of the baseball writers followed the McGwire/Sosa race like hungry hyenas. They followed Bonds on the chase to 70 so closely they trampled each other on the way in to the stadium each night. So, they were complicit in the events of the era. For them to now be holier than thou is the ultimate in ridiculous. Bonds was HOF either way. Clemens was HOF either way. And, I may say, so is Rose. It's past time for him to take his place among the finest ever.

@bluedevil101, I couldn't agree with you more. They belong in the Hall period...Rose, I loathed him in and out of baseball but Pete has more hits than anyone. Anyone...and Roger, what a jerk, but guess what? he won Cy Youngs with how many different teams? And Bonds, he topped Ruth and Aaron and you're gonna keep him out? Insanity rules in baseball. Take your "holier than thou" attitude some other place.

The players are to be judge on their performance during their era(s). Many players have been denied entrance based on a multitude of factors, however the so called "Steroid Era" players that did test positive do need to have their performance called into question, though how many others fell under the radar during that same time period.

Steroid players should be kept out of the hall. Darn shame that players like Ruth and Aaron had their records fall to guys like McGwire and Bonds. Keep 'em out, who needs 'em. It also must be noted that MLB should strip them of their records like Armstrong had his stuff stripped away.

The steroids-era players who put up video game-style numbers are no better than pro wrestlers. Keep them out of the HoF.

Yeh let's vote guys with "character" in like the Babe and Ty Cobb. Yeh right they really were guys of character. Are you kidding me? So hypicrical of baseball writers to be cheering the home run contest along and then judging these same guys to be unfit? Let em in it won't hurt the game at all...cripes if it survives the steroid era it will survive this.
