As a long time Vikings fan who has gritted his teeth and cheered for some questionable characters and not so likeable coaches over the years, it's great to see a first class person having success with the team. Makes it much easier to root for them.

Mr. Souhan, I'm a fan of you writing, even when I criticize its point. And let's face it, many times your job is to skewer what needs skewering. However, columns like this is when you're at your best, in my point of view. The sports headlines the past year or so have been depressing, be it murder-suicides, the atrocities at Penn St, drunk driving deaths, etc. Reading this made my day, and I applaud your approach in showing us the background of the man who is steering the Viking ship in the right direction so far, and seems to be legit. Thank you.

Thank you for this glimpse into the life and background of Coach Frazier. I appreciate what he's doing with this team and the direction its going. Keep it up, Coach.

The only loss that could be considered bad at this point is the home loss to Tampa, who had hit an incredible stride when they faced them on a Thursday game, which are always dicey. A great job this year by Frazier, and hopefully he'll be the coach for a long time.

Frazier's personality and stoic look reminds me of Bud Grant. Just like Grant, Frazier's players know he has their back and seem to play as hard for him as Grant's did for him.

Although both men are/were classy coaches and never showed much emotion, Frasier reminds me more of Lovey Smith, a kind but dispassionate leader whereas Grant had the look where his eyes penetrated into you like lasers. He was intimidating as hell.

Great story about a great man. Can anyone say why the defense (backfield) was so sucky when Chilly was here? Was it chilly? Speils poor selections? Seems with a guy as great as Lesile they would have gotten back to prominance on the D side sooner? Look forward to many more years of the coach. Go Vikes.

Respect and support of those doing the 'work' has gone a long way in building this group of young, and a couple of older, men Coach Frazier. Good job and good story! Winning the respect of the fans takes a bit longer than it does for the players. Win or lose we feel a lot better about this 'team'. There seems to be a lot of respect for the whole staff, which goes back to the man we've been talking about. But, the true genius of this franchise has to be the person who, on draft day, said take Blair Walsch!
