Hit on a miss: Vikings have learned lessons as season has progressed

  • Article by: DAN WIEDERER , Star Tribune

The Vikings' biggest pass play of the season came from, of all things, an incompletion from a game that didn't even involve them.

That touchdown pass to Jenkins that was almost an interception could have been the turning point in Mr. Ponders season. After that pass came the huge third down pass again to Jenkins on the last drive. I certainly hope it was a turning point and CP can go out there and have a great game in his first playoff game. Because if he does, a trip to Atlanta lies ahead!

With each success, CP rightfully gains confidence in his ability. He still needs work on pulling the trigger when his instinct tells him to do so, and when, or whether or not, he can thread the needle, when he NEEDS to. Hopefully he's a positive, progressive work in progress. Wright made a great catch - but - once he had that ball in his hands he should have juked to his left. The closing defender woouldn't have been able to adjust in time and it would have been a TD! GO VIKINGS!!

And how many times did Bret Fav-ray throw a pass that was an inch too far right or an inch too far left? It's what made him one of the greatest of all times. He was not afraid to throw the pick, which produced a lot of clutch TDs and lots of wins. In all sports, true leaders are confident and don't hesitate to make the winning play. Look how long it took LaBron James to learn that. Keep growing, Ponder, and Go Vikes!

I canremember when I've ever seen Ponder pump-fake but he did a couple times in this game and it was advantageous. He looked great and came together at the right time to save this game, his career, and a run to the playoffs. He really looked almost elite. He had great touch. What a great win, great game(now one of my top ten Vikings'games of all time) and expect to see more of the same.I think he finally gets it now.And praise Frazier for sticking with him and believing and what a testament to Frazier's skill at judging talent, despite the throng of naysayers clammoring for Ponder's head and Webb replacing him.I think they know what they're doing.

the reason you saw Ponder do well lately is the time the O-Line has been getting him, and the receivers getting into the open spaces in the zone. Any QB will tell you that it is overly difficult to be successful when you have to make your move 2 steps out of the snap

A well-written article and carefully polished. Joy to read.

If Ponder gets some receiving help in the next draft,he could be more than an average QB,but then again------

We have a lot of young, talented players with good attitudes and effort. With seasoning, they're are only going to improve. Frazier has done a very good job and may be the man for us.
