More specifics would have been nice. That said, lets SEVERELY punish those who are convicted of physically abusing women. Due to the sketchy detailsvof this piece its hard to comment on the other aspects

VAWA: a discriminatory law based on advocacy group beliefs rather than social science or criminology findings. Get rid of it.

There are already laws in place for battery and assault. Why does there need to be something specific to women? There are cases of domestic abuse against men too. Not as often heard of, but it does happen. Heck, especially if it was written specifying lesbians because there is abuse in gay relationships too... There a laws against rape, laws against, battery, laws against violence in general, why does there need to be something specific to women, and especially in a relationship situation? It goes back to the term I hate of date rape. Sorry, rape is rape and violence is violence. It doesn't matter if it's a stranger or someone you know...it's simply wrong and against the law already.
