Dunno. We're talkin' about a city that considered Sharon Sayles-Belton too conservative for the role of Mayor. Lively? Maybe in the same context as a Three Stooges comedy short...

How can there possibly be a lively race when there is no chance for a Republican to win the race? There will be a Republican running but they don't have a chance. There will be several Democrats running and it will be a race to see who can be the most liberal. A lively race between several like minded individuals isn't going to be a race of diverse ideas and concepts.

The editorial board is far too kind to Mr Rybak. Mpls is a city at a crossroads and needs some fresh thinking to deal with the many challenges. I hope some strong candidates emerge and not a "good old boy" selection.

The best thing that could happen to Minneapolis would be for voters to break the stranglehold that the DFL has on government in this city. Most Republicans are too crazy to be elected, but there are always the Libertarians and the Greens. They deserve a look.

The candidate that can offer the voters the most "free stufff" once owned by someone else- should win handily.
