It is unbeliever in the 21st century that such behavior has been allowed by a so called democratic nation. I was very pleased to hear that a group of women grabbed a rapist and held him until the police showed up.

These animals should be raped and beaten to death themselves. They don't deserve a fair trial. They don't deserve to live. They are lower than animals considering all they could do to another human being. How can people do this to one another? And they fact that they have legislators that are accused of rape and are still serving...that is beyond disgusting.

It's good to hear something about the other victim in this brutal attack. Also good to hear how he attempted to fight back to save his friend.

So were these the only person on the bus? Whats up with the driver, witnesses etc? How can people just not even notice these things and continue their ride. Sickening.

And so we seek parallels to the Ohio case -- a privileged class intertwined with law enforcement, wealth disparity, and a growing denigration of women. How ironic the parting gift from house Republicans was a refusal to pass the Violence Against Women Act.

heckles, In case you forgot to read the news articles on this attack. The bus driver was one of the attackers. Only 6 men were on the bus at the time the couple got on and all 6 were involved in the attack. Why do people make comments before even reading the articles. That is why the attack could last for the 2 plus hours it did.

marathongirl, the purpose of a trial is to determine if a suspect did what they are accused of. Do you think an innocent person who has been mistakenly accused deserves a fair trial? As horrible as the attack was, things could be much worse in a nation without a fair justice system (consider the mass murders taking place in Mexico). It is worth noting that Indian courts have rampant corruption. It is quite likely the perpetrators were emboldened by the broken legal system in India.

For all men found guilty of rape in a court of law, they should have surgically removed the item that the men used to attack she/he with.

Sadly castration has not been proven to deter men from raping. In this case the metal rod is what caused the most physical damage. This is such a sad and tragic story, I have always been amazed that people will often do in a group what they would not necessarily do independently...a shame to align with others capable of this...are their families speaking out?
