Nice to see Nolan didn't waste any time in re-developing relationships with Capitol Hill lobbyists. In the home of one even BEFORE he's sworn in.

Representing NE Minnesota in Washington is NOT a Jimmy Stewart movie. Real world requires that our elected reps understand who the players are, how things get done. Given that a yellow post-it could be used to summarize accomplishments of the guy from New England who last represented the district, 8th district will be well served by someone with real life experiences and past political connections. Rick will be a voice of reason in a place with few of those now.

I watched the smear sampaign he waged up north to get elected. He'll fit right in out there in DC.

Lobbyists, old party political hacks handing each other cushy jobs. And you wonder what is wrong with America?

You know there is little hope left for Minnesota when voters actually elect a washed up radical retread from the 60's like Nolan.

"8th district will be well served by someone with real life experiences and past political connections"-------served from 1975-1981. Hmmmmm. I remember those years. Do you?

We had a mediocre, ineffectual representative in NE MN for the past two years. Cravaack displayed very little interest in his job--he always came off as a guy who never expected to actually get elected to the job and then didn't like the job much when he got it. Pretty worthless, other than as a symbol of one party's beliefs. We needed him to DO something, not just exist to hold the spot for the R side. There's plenty of negative to say about Oberstar's last years, but the man knew how to get stuff for NE Minnesota, things we needed. All Cravaack did was give things away. You can diss Nolan for already connecting with the DC power brokers, but actually that is part of the job we elect a representative to do. Our area needs a better advocate than we had recently. Nolan SHOULD be reconnecting with every possible political person he knows.

Sadly, another go along, get along party hack. I'm very saddened by our country's prospects for the future,if this is the best we can elect in the 8th.
