NY county clerk says releasing gun permit information to newspaper could put public in danger

Legally they can publish the names but when you look at the moral aspect it's wrong, but that's okay because now they have guns. How hypocritical.

I would like to see the address of the principles of the Journal news published, including that of anyone else having anything to do with this story. Also, if it's not against the law, I would also like to see the names of their family members published, the licence plates of their automobiles & if possible were their children go to school. Maybe then fools like those at Journal news might think twice about what they did.

Yeah, it was o.k. when the local papers published the names and earnings of every state, county municipal and University of MN employee. Why isn't it o.k to publish any public information? I'm looking at you, "marcy" and "cks".

the stupid thing about publishing the names and addresses is that theives and criminals would know where to lurk and stalk homes that would likely have guns inside to steal. this is irresponsible of the newspaper. so who is to blame when "Johnny Meth-Head" burglarizes one of the homes on the newspaper map, steals a gun, then goes and shoots up a mall?

Gun advocates say that bad guys won't mess with you if they know you are packing heat. It seems like the paper did the gun owners a huge favor by letting all the would-be criminals know which homes to avoid for fear of being blown away.
