The DNR loves to kill creatures and is totally in league with hunters. Bah humbug to them saying the season "went very well".

Wolves are not a crop like corn or soybeans. They are sentient biengs. Therefore, they aren't "harvested", they are killed. The government and special interest groups love euphemisms that seek to nullify the truth of what is really happening - the killing of thinking, feeling, living beings for the amusement and profit of people who delight in this cruel and bloody business.

budgrant00, the emotionalims that has run rampant for years is that of hyterical hunters and their hatred of wolves, mostly for competing with them for deer. It accounts for the estimated 400 wolves a year killed and poached (which I think is low and the DNR knows it). I wonder if DNR research from this hunt will reveal how many wolves tried to chew their leg off when caught in a foot or other type of trap. The fact remains that it was unwise to hunt wolves so soon after delisting and such wreckless action shows how intensely the DNR hunter's bias impacts their policy.

I agree that Dayton's DNR Commissioner should be removed from his post.

The real joke is the notion that the DNR can manage anything, look at the moose population, even while it is plummeting, they have a moose hunt, to satisfy their hunter clients. They will "manage" the wolf back on to the endangered species list before they are done.

While I personally don't own a gun and dislike them I understand the need to instill the fear of humans into this rapidly expanding large preditor. This wolf hunt is long overdue. Those people who have never lived in the country and have never had a pet or calf killed by a wolf should reconsider telling others how to live their lives. Growing up on a farm we once had a small calf taken by a wild animal, likely a wolf. The mournful sound from the cows in our barnyard is something I'll never forget. That was only a couple of hundred feet from our house where young children often played outside. Wolves need to fear man period. They need to stay in the woods and hunt deer. They will learn the scent of man from this hunt and avoid houses and farmsteads, This is a good thing.

Congrats to all of the successful hunters, and good luck to the ones out there today, giving it their best shot until the bitter end! What an awesome 1st wolf season for the state! The fact that we were so much more successful than other states that have wolf hunts tells me that we have a ton of wolves here, and Minnesota hunters and trappers are good at what they do. Thank you, DNR for this great opportunity. I, for one, will have a beautiful wolf mount to display in my living room in just a few short months!
