I don't really see this as 'disgusting'. The timing could have been better, but it is far from 'disgusting'. Even the governor of CO will be attending the event. I totally understand why some might not want to attend because it would be too painful, but for some it might be therapeutic and offer a bit of closure (we all grieve differently). Offering an invitation to the memorial is the appropriate thing to do. As to the company not meeting privately with families without lawyers. Why do you think that is? They are now being sued (for what I'm not sure). Focus your anger on the shooter, not the movie theater.

Wiley, why is it disgusting? The theater has done nothing wrong. And with the lawsuits against them (for just WHAT?!?) I am not surprised they refuse to see the families without lawyers present.

Why is the theatre being sued? I dont understand what the theatre did. This was not a forseeable event and the theatre did not cause this.

The theatre is trying to hold a tribute/memorial. Timing isnt the best but the theatre is trying to do the right thing. Why is this disgusting? Many memorials I have been to were either at the site of the tragedy or included the option to stop there? Whats any different there?

I don't like frivilous lawsuits. That said, they could be suing the cinema because the emergency exit was propped open without sounding an alarm and causing someone to investigate. I could be wrong, but wouldn't opening an emergency exit require some sort of alarm? All of them are labeled to indicate so.

The movie theater is also a victim in this. They didn't ask for this to happen to them any more than any of the other victims did. They have been closed all this time, have lost a lot of revenue, and have had to pay to remodel. They haven't complained about it, they're just trying to do the right thing. I can't see what's disgusting about their behavior, or any reason they should be sued.

How can you sue the theater over this? I suppose if someone gets shot in a car the victim's family can sue the car manufacturer?

I wouldn't call it disgusting, just an ill-conceived idea. If I were a relative of one of the victims, that theater is the last place I'd want to visit. Just my personal feeling. Now regarding the lawsuit against the theater, I hope that gets thrown out. The theater was in no way at fault over what happened. I feel for the survivors and relatives, but they are not thinking on a rational, practical level with this lawsuit.

The family can react however they want, I won't judge when they are still grieving. But if it was me, I think I would want to show up as a sign that this type of violence/terrorism isn't going to keep us afraid. We're back and we aren't afraid. Then again, I'm not the one grieving, so hard to know how you would really react.
