They should not spend their time arguing about how to slice up a smaller pie. They need to focus on their mission and strategies to increase the size of the pie. Larger audiences, and more community support can increase the revenue, taking salaries off center stage. The reality is the status quo is not an option. The board and management can't keep salaries where they are, and good or great players can not br retained with lower salaries. The best are in demand and have options in other venues. If the board somehow succeeded with big reductions the organization would quickly decline because they could not recruit and retain the best. The problem is revenue and endowment, expenses can be met at a sustaining level when revenue is incresed

It looks as if the sold-out "unofficial" concerts made the boards of the two organizations realize that the audiences like the musicians better than they like either board.
