In my opinion, nothing is more important to wildlife and conservation than eliminating the ethanol fuel mandate and subsidies. Around 40% of the American corn crop is used for fuel, this increases other grain costs as well as meat and dairy prices. It also persuades farmers to grow corn where corn shouldn't really be grown, like in Kansas where is continues depleting the Ogalala Aquifer It is nothing more than politicians trying to buy the farm vote. If we quit burning ethanol, food prices would come down, CRP contracts would be more competitive, less wetlands would be drained, and less sod turned to row crops. Best of all, it would not cost the taxpayer a dime.

It's obvious the DNR is not in retail. They spend big bucks in advertising out of state and then soak the tourists with increased liscense fees when they arrive. Kind of like calling your dog to come and then throwing rocks at him as he approaches.

Instead of an increased tax on boats how about a new license charging by the square foot for docks and boat lifts? Docks across public waters in MN are getting out of hand.
