When the church of the Salvation Army quits their bigotry, maybe they will get more money.

Maybe they could just deduct it from their anti-gay lobbying budget. Better yet, eliminate it all together! There will be a day when ALL of us can feel good about putting some money in the red kettle, but it definitely isn't today.

Chick-Fil-A and the Slavation Army must be related or just have poor business practices with all their tax deductible donations going to support hate groups and homophobic clans. It's time to take away tax deductions to corporations that support this type of suppression against human rights in America. After the 80%+ of their donations from John Q. Public going into 'administrative' costs, the final 10% to 20% going to the support the causes that they feel are important, which by now, we all know what those are...

Conservative always believe that charity will meet the needs...but what happens when it doesn't? The needy go without. Conservatives would also be the first to blame spending as the problem. Perhaps of the SA just spent less, they would be more successful.

As a financially-stable, local gay man, I will be happy to support The Salvation Army but doing so is like an African-American supporting the KKK. Change your discriminating ways and embrace equality for all SA and maybe you'll see more support both in donations as well as volunteers.

Just one over aggressive bell ringer; or just too much or two many bell ringers; and this becomes a turn off. You do not demand that a person give to charity. You ask!

No money for charity this year! In November when you all voted for Obama and his socialist let the government take care of you agenda I stopped giving. I just know if you get ahold of the President he will most assuredly send you some OBAMA MONEY!

Could it be that the stories about the homophobia and bigotry practiced by the Salvation Army are finally finding an audience and is being reflected in the significant drop in donations? I sure hope so! My money goes to Open Arms and the Red Cross!

Groovemonkey--After reading your comment I did a little digging and only found one site where the salvation army revenue/expenses are found (reference below from MN Attorney General website). Looks like management and fund-raising expenses are around 18.5% and programming accounts for 81.5%. Where did you get your statistic of 80+% for management? http://www.ag.state.mn.us/charities/SearchResults2.asp?Fed=410698597&Yr=PREV&cmdSearch=Submit
