So the kids are greeted by a police officer at the door? Hopefully a lessen has been learned: the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. It is past time to end 'gun-free zones'. I hope they will have full time armed protection there, but I fear it's only window dressing and the cop will disappear after a while. Mass murders always happen where guns are banned, so schools need to adapt and allow armed security on a full time basis.

Let's see....there are armed gards/police officers at malls, colleges, military bases, and guess what, even at police stations and yet people still get killed. More guns are NOT the answer.

@Mellers:"Let's see....there are armed gards/police officers at malls, colleges, military bases, and guess what, even at police stations and yet people still get killed. More guns are NOT the answer."...Sorry, no. The mall shootings occured in the absence of armed guards. Mall security is nearly always unarmed. Show me a college that has full time armed security all over campus. Doesn't exist. And finally, the soldiers at Ft Hood that were killed were ALL UNARMED due to some ridiculous policy. Civilian police stopped that attack, unfortunately too late. The clear common element is that these shootings always happen in 'gun-free zones'. Sorry but your post is factually wrong. Why people want these mass murders to be able to go on in the absence of any armed good guy response is beyond me.
