I resolve to avoid putting everything in an "Us vs Them" framework.

thehoffers, I seriously doubt you'd ever find anyone in the new GOP to fair and balanced. More than a couple of screws loose yes, but fair and balanced? LOL

Krueger, you embody the very essence of my observation.

Americans, including myself, are values voters. I look at the values of the DFL and of the GOP as clearly stated in their party platforms. My values align more closely with the DFL. Our values are our core beliefs and helps us organize and categorize outside information in a way that makes sense to us. Therefore, I think I will always have an "us vs. them" attitude, since I will stick with my values. And yes, the GOP lost the election and now they will obstruct. For them, the value and their power is in "no." The problem...we need to move on as a country, so I will try to understand what the other side wants, but my values will ultimately drive my decisions.

The GOP of the past 19 years has been a wasteland of petty, self-serving money grubbers. They are by and large on the take from their well financed supporters, think tanks and lobbyists. Look who they are working for directly on resisting this generous deal from the democrats and hard won concessions form their own in the Senate. The Republicans are not serious people and have no ability to govern. They are there simply to serve their owners and to befuddle and c0nfuse their low information pitchfork wielding piglet supporters.

It's funny because it's so true.

It's a fool's hope, but if the Minnesota GOP can learn the difference between 'conservative' versus 'cheap and shortsighted', they may have something to offer the state again. It would help if they got their own financial house in order to begin with.
