The number of defendants charged by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Minnesota has dropped substantially in the past several federal fiscal years. Under U.S. Attorney B. Todd Jones, prosecutors shifted their focus from “street-level” drug cases to breaking up cartels, unraveling complex fraud schemes and breaking up terrorist recruiting efforts.
