Dec.31, jan.2., feb.4th? Just another day. What about sept.1, 2012? Maybe they should have settled than?

Geez, you mean to say this time when the owners got a counter-proposal they didn't feign freaking out and reject it immediately? Must be time to get the deal done. Season is to start on Jan. 19, NBC's first scheduled NHL telecast is Jan. 20. Coincidence? I think not. At this point it is reasonably safe to conclude that NBC got in Bettman's ear and told him in so many words; no season = TV contract voided....just as ESPN did to the NHL in 2005.

There is no way Bettman should have a job after the deal is done.

"There is no way Bettman should have a job after the deal is done." Bettman works for the owners, not the players. This is what the OWNERS want. He's pleasing his bosses.

As usual, Fehr has to get the last words in! Typical union move>

NHL- Please don't bother members of your former fan base- we have found other diversions for our sports entertainment dollars ...

OK Mr. Commissioner, so you hate the union, you don't like dealing with them and your biggest problem is constantly taming your owners who are infinetly trying to one up each other financially in their quest to get the brass ring. Oh, and it's the players responsibility to keep them from screwing each other all the time. And then when they put up resistance you go into a state of disbelief as if the PA should just roll over everytime you want to eviscerate them. We get it. Now, cut the bologna Gary and make a deal or this 52 season fan is saying au revoir...
