Focus mr President, we have kind of a big deal going here with the economy, we will get to a gun bill which btw wont stop any of this violence. That is a much broader issue than just passing a bill.
Glad to see his full attention is on avoiding the fiscal cliff.
Violent crime has been decreasing for many years. This is just another attempt by obama, democrats and liberals to politicize a very rare and tragic event to move their agenda forward. In the words of Rahm Emanuel: "Never let a crises go to waste"
I want Obama and Holder impeached this year.
How about enforcing existing gun laws for starters?
To get rid of gun violence every state must implement a "3 strikes and you're in for life." The conditions in prisons must be made less"user friendly". Sheriff Joe Arapaho (sp) has the right idea. Background checks should be required of course for public and private sales of firearms. I also think a very large tax on ammunition should be levied. A copy of a driver's license for every ammo. sale is also reasonable. The rights of the very "disturbed" need to be reconsidered. In large cities their "interesting" habits are an affront to most of us. Group homes certainly aren't working for the violent/delusional folks for sure.
Adding more gun laws will not reduce gun violence.....dealing with the underlying issues such as mental illness will be the key to reducing gun violence. Obama and his gun banning allies, have wanted to do away with the 2nd amendment for a long time, before Newtown, Aurora, and even before Columbine...they just use the tragedies as a crutch to push there anti-gun, anti-American agenda forward....
In his boldest terms yet, he vowed to rally the American people around an agenda to limit gun violence and said he still supports increased background checks and bans on assault weapons and high capacity bullet magazines. ************ I agree with the background checks. As for curbing the gun violence, they need to look at the mental health problem instead of trying to put a band aid on and amputated leg. It’s a knee jerk reaction and at best it won't work.
..." we can't have a situation in which somebody with severe psychological problems is able to get the kind of high capacity weapons that this individual in Newton obtained..." ***************
Don't underestimate the probability that high capacity weapons will be used by human beings in a completely calculated, coordinated effort to slaughter others to make a point. We don't need to take that kind of risk to satisfy a few ideologues. If people truly believe they need guns to protect themselves then it is also true that the above scenario is real and only a matter of time before becoming reality.
More proof of Obama and Rahm Emmanuel's cycnical tactic of 'never let a good crisis go to waste'. We've said all along that Obama was an anti-gun zealot, and now you know. These tired old measures have already been tried, and failed to make any difference at all. Columbine happened in the middle of the last 'assault weapons' ban. Such measures simply don't deal with the REAL issue-we need to put an end to 'gun-free' zones, which is where these mass shootings always happen. Hate on the NRA all you want, but what they said is proven fact: The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
