Mr. Zgoda; your title to this story, Mchale; Royce who? is a disservice to K-Mac and to the young White. Thats not what Mchale said the other day in an article about White's situation and you should know that, it was in your paper. Your title infers something thats not true. I'm pretty sure K-Mac knows who Royce is. And while I can understand that the problem the young White may be battling is a complex matter, he's not doing himself any favors with his fight city hall attitude. It seems as if he is working against the Rocket organization rather then with them in an effort to find some solution to help get him playing as opposed to not being with the club and out of the loop. If the kid has the talent, then get yourself right and play. You can be an advocate and get on the soapbox in your offtime. Good luck kid...

Mr. White should have stayed in college at least one more year.

Just to be clear, the reporters do not typically write the headlines to their articles.

Sorry Marcus, the headline is spot on. Sure McHale know who he is! Are you that literal or just tying to pick a (losing) fight. McHale doesn't concern himself with someone as irresponsible and immature as White. 98% of readers get that from the headline. Stop trying to defend White, it's a losing proposition.

Royce White is a huge talent with a huge NBA upside. The Rockets knew ahead of time what they were getting into, but they refuse to make reasonable accomidations for Mr Whites anxiety issues. Royce is not at fault here; I believe his williness to do the d-league is a testament to that. Rockets simply refuse to understand and work with his mental illness.

jwillsDec. 30, 12 1:18 PM

What Royce doesn't understand is that the majority of people who have mental illnesses or handicaps are not looking for society to change to accommodate them, but they are looking to find ways for them to better accommodate society. The Rockets have gone way out of their way to make Royce's life as comfortable as possible with his mental illness, but Royce keeps piling on with new demands. The fact of the matter is, if he was not a gifted athlete and he was a regular Joe in the work force, he would have to be able to function and do the job, or else they would find someone who is able to function and do the job. I comprehend and commend Royce's desire to fight for better, understanding, tolerance, and acceptance of people with mental illnesses in our society, but the way he is going about it is more detrimental to his cause, than helpful. His holdout is drawing negative attention to his cause and making him look bad. Showing up for work, and dealing with his issues on a day-to-day basis, lacing up his sneakers and playing, fighting his issues, with the support of the Rockets, is the best billboard for overcoming the challenges of mental illnesses than anything else. Look at Meta World Peace, he is playing and dealing with his issues and supporting others who have mental illnesses as well. Royce needs to take a page out of Meta's book and do the same thing.

MPLS_GUY- agreed. Taking it back a bit further, he should also have had some guidance in his life by an adult (to kick him in the a@@) who would have made him try to stay and CONFORM at De La Salle High School. Brother Michael (RIP) at 'De' likely had this kid pegged as trouble from a mile away. Ultimately he kicked "Rolls Royce's" heinie out of the school. Last time I looked, De is still standing without him and continues to produce bright, hard working, disciplined and successful grads. As De relies on unlowered standards, non-gratuitous grading, strict requirements and above all is a place where rules are actually enforced to produce successful grads - nothing could have been a better place for 'Rolls Royce' on a longer term basis. Disorder aside, he's just another has been/never was who will be piled on the scrap heap of pampered kid athletes who would have benefitted from mature guidance and a swift kick in the rump.

The NBA isn't a charity service. When one enters the NBA draft, it's a declaration that you are fit to play pro basketball. If you're not fit any reason, mental, physical or otherwise, then don't enter the draft and work out for teams pretending that you are fit to play on a professional level. White is being paid millions, and has an entire staff and a team of doctors at his behest. After refusing to be a part of team activities, he's now refused a D-League assignment. It's beginning to look more and more like his intention is to collect millions and not have to work for it. I wish I could collect a fat check for sitting around and slandering my place of employment on twitter.

Royce got munsoned. He had the whole world in the palm of his hand and he blew it. He should be on a gravy train with biscuit wheels, but instead his act is as fresh as a Foghat concert. (life is better with some "Kingpin" references)
