This is probably the first time I've read an article about a major corporation's CEO's compensation and wasn't offended by it. $2M base salary is obviously a lot higher than non-executive salaries, but is so much easier to swallow than, say, UHG's Steven Hemsley total comp of $100M+. And yes, a CEO's obscene compensation DOES matter. So much of that money could be meaningfully distributed among the rank and file who actually work everyday. As to how hard a CEO's job is - please! All you do is make obvious decisions based on analyses provided to you by other people (that actually had to do the work to give it to you).
