DEKALB, Miss. - In the woods of east Mississippi, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Co. is pouring billions of dollars into construction of a power plant that burns coal but would emit less carbon dioxide. It's a response to looming federal limits on carbon emissions as regulators try to curtail global warming.

In discussion of Southern Co.'s nuclear reactor project at Plant Vogtle, the article says: "The $14 billion project will be funded in part by $6 million from Southern subsidiary Georgia Power Co." Are you sure that Georgia Power's contribution is just $6 million (and not $6 billion)? While $6 million is a massive amount of money to me, it is only about 0.04% of $14 billion (and that is not 4%, it's less than one-half of one-tenth of 1%). So Georgia Power could increase the stated amount by a factor of 20X (up to $120 million) and it would still be less than 1% of the total! Perhaps you meant $6 billion, which would be 40% of the total cost?
