If our elected officials did their jobs we would not be in this mess. Mr. Reid, if the cuts you have said have been made, why would we need to raise the debt ceiling? You have not made any cuts, yet you throw this at the feet of the Republicans. What next, will you resort to saying the Military won't get paid, people will not get Social Security? Using your scare the elderly campaign? That would be about as low as one could go. If you need to make cuts, start with Obama phones. Birth control for women. Cut entitlements, not things people have earned!

Correct Harry. The GOP has ZERO interest in stopping it. Once again it is all about protecting the rich at the expense of everybody else. The GOP/TP will pay dearly in 2012.

Although I am a democrat and usually pretty anti-GOP, this is why Harry needs to go. Always passing the buck publicly. Show some leadership, come up with a rational plan that most Americans can support. Don't push it off on the dreaded Repubs and then blame them for failure. Take a chance at greatness for once. If your plan fails, so be it, but make an effort instead of just passing it off and blaming the opposing party. This is whats wrong with politics today. Its all about setting the other side up for failure and our country and its people be damned.

Really? I wonder how reid figured this out. ========================================== Pretty simple. What is the outcome if you need the GOP to help the majority of Americans? Failure every single time... But Grover Norquist and the richest Americans - they have your back.

Genuine demonstration of the regard politicians from BOTH sides show for the people of this country.

Harry, YOU passed the "Fiscal Cliff" Aug 2011! At least you passed something. Ever heard of a budget?

No more proof is required that the GOP will throw THE ENTIRE COUNTRY under the bus for the interests of the top 2%! Just when you think they could not be any dumber! The GOP/TP is going to learn a lesson on voter math in 2014!

Harry is at it again, trying to blame republicans for failing to pass fiscal bills in the senate when a fiscal bill CANNOT be filibustered and can be passed by a simple majority vote. For all of you who are not political experts, that is how the Bush tax cuts were passed in the first place. It has been 4 years since the senate has passed a budget. Harry, if you had done your job the last 4 years and passed a budget, brought the senate's bill and the house's bill into conference committee and ultimately passed a budget each year, we would not be in this mess.

For all of you railing against the GOP/TP out here...serious question for you. Let's say the GOP/TP were to pass the tax increases for those making over $250,000. That part is done, the middle class sees no change. Now fast forward to after Jan 1 and the GOP is ready to sit down and have a serious discussion about spending cuts (as the Dems have promised they would do after the first of the year). But suddenly the D's say "oh sorry...we actually don't feel that is important". Would all of you liberals be bashing your own party for not compromising then as well? Or would you suddenly be silent because..as long as the D's don't have to make concessions..then it is perfectly acceptable.

Or would you suddenly be silent because..as long as the D's don't have to make concessions..then it is perfectly acceptable. ============================================= The Democrats already have made concessions - AGAIN! Stop watching Faux News and educate yourself. Reality might surprise you. The GOP/TP are once again holding all of America Hostage for the 2%ers. This will be the last time. Come 2014 they will all be on the History Channel!
