Go over the cliff, go over the cliff, go over the cliff... Then we can start fresh.
Washington is broken, both sides have a size 17 boot perfect for kicking cans.
"Longer, term, he said he still supports deficit cuts that were key to the earlier talks...." Well Mr President, you have 4 years under your belt. Surely you must have an idea or two to cut the deficit. Step up and make something happen as opposed to more of your tired rhetoric on taxing the evil rich.
The ball is in the Presidents and Sen Harry Reid's court to come up with a proposal that will pass both chambers of Congress.
But the President's real test of leadership comes in the Debt level increase discussions. His deriding and demeaning the GOP in the house has so poisoned the waters. If I am a GOP house member, I say here is our Waterloo...show the hard budget cuts to make a balanced budget, or no increases to the credit limit...like banks do to us when we show no will to live within our means.
Actually "going over the cliff" is one way to solve the budget problem. Raise taxes on everyone and cut spending is what we need anyway. I'm not saying I approve but for long-term economic growth it may be better to take our medicine now.
Let the payroll tax expire. That way everybody has to feel the pain. Maybe people will start caring what the government does with our money.
Geither just announced we're going to hit the debt ceiling on Monday. Ball is now totally in Obama's and Reid's courts.
Even a drubbing in an election they were convinced they would win has not seemed to change the Republican Party's toxic mindset from one of delay and obstruction. The GOP is protecting the wealthiest people on the planet while letting the rest of the country suffer for no reason. The GOP is out of touch with the needs of ordinary Americans, and out of touch with reality. Their hatred for Obama is beginning to have blowback.. No more handouts to the rich.
nopension-------What drubbing are your talking about. That whole 2% of voters more that Obama got. He is the first president in history to be reelected with fewer votes than the first term. But, please feel free to tell us what handouts the rich get? We'll wait, and wait and wait.
nopension, so your idea of a fix is tax the rich 80 billion when were running 1.3 trillion a year deficits, raise taxes, just not on me huh?
