Better outlaw root beer too. It might get some kid used to the idea that drinking something with "beer" in the name is normal and before you know it we'll have an epidemic of preschool beer drinkers.

WOW...it's obvious to even the casual observer that the St. Paul democrats have too damn much time on their hands and not enough money in the city coffers. 1 complaint and they send in the cigarette nazis to fine the store but I can't get the them to do jack about the 3 foot high weeds and broken down car that has been sitting in the driveway for the past year.

Hey folks, instead of blaming a piece of candy for as the reason your little Jimmy took up smoking, how bout you either look in the mirror or look at little Jimmy. NO I repeat NO piece of candy is going to influence a kid to smoke. So are you going to ban IBC Root Beer because it comes in a bottle that looks like a real beer bottle? I think its about time for people to stop blaming their problems and choices they make on inanimate objects. Its sad that people will lay blame on a piece of candy as the reason someone started smoking instead of blaming the person themselves. We are done as a society.

Smoking is definitely unhealthy and should be discouraged. However, kids know the difference between candy and real cigarettes. If St. Paul is really going to become a PC nanny, then they might as well ban the sale of toy guns, toy knives and anything else that has an authentic counter-part. The city is cherry-picking if it is simply going after a single item.

Most of these comments are missing the point entirely. This law was passed in 2009; if you wanted to debate its logic or rationale, that was the time to do so. But once the law was in place, it's up to business owners to be responsible and adhere to it. You don't have to like the laws, but you have to follow them.

Good old "mayor" Coleman. He won't even consider protecting school children from violent nutjobs by having armed guards at our schools, but by GOD we will spend money to prevent white sugar cylinders from being sold in stores. I'll bet coleman allows pot smoking and free condoms in schools, too. But zer vill be NO candy cigarettes in your fair city, right mayor?

Where candy cigarettes are outlawed, only outlaws will have candy cigarettes. You mean to tell me that in St. Paul, even if I'm of legal age to buy real cigarettes, I can't buy candy ones?

Meanwhile, children continue to go hungry, crime continues, and teachers are still underpaid. Thanks, Big Government, for the colassal waste of time here!!!

It is easy to pick on the candy cigarettes because they do not generate tons of money in state tax revenue. Thank God I have all these wonderful people to keep me safe. Ugg
