This has to be one of the most poorly written articles to ever appear in a major-market newspaper. "Cooking with his whole heart"? Yeah, I get what you mean, but did you not think about what you wrote? A bartender has "irreversibly turned Minneapolis into a bourbon-drinking town"? I bet bourbon isn't even their top selling alcohol. And if Minneapolis were a bourbon-drinking town, is it really irreversible? You mention things that have often been paired (such as barbecue joint and watering hole), but then say "other never-previous-paired archetypes." That doesn't make sense. I'll take a review without all the campy writing.

The reporter might want to tell readers where the restaurant is located next time he does a review.

I went there for a drink with friends one night last winter and the bartender pretty much ignored us. Most likely because we're college students and looked nothing like the other patrons. The beer was excellent however.

I agree with Cory089 and DufferH - time to go back to journalism school. Start by learning the 5Ws/1H - who, what, where, whenwhy, how. If I haveto look beyond the article to know where the rstaurant is, the article fell short.

The address is 1121 Hennepin Ave (that took me about 5 seconds of investigative journalism)...

This place is not that great. First of all, parking is terrible. 2nd they do not open until 5pm. 3rd If they have a private party you are shown the door. 4th food is ok, not great. I am really surprised they are still open, much less restaurant of the year.

I've been there and yes the parking is horrible unless you want to pay for valet parking (although I found street parking a block away) but I found the staff to be very friendly and the food was incredible (love the sweet potatoes). Worth checking out if you like good food and want to try something different.

Food here was nothing that warrants "restaurant of the year" Standard stuff if you ask me and with the inconvenience of parking it is all around a dud to me. Much better establishments in this town for the money. But I guess if you are looking for something new try it. I have been around town and there are multiple people who state they own this place. Whats the deal anyways? The chef and a guy name Tim owns it? Seems weird people going around saying they are part owners of it.
