Loved Klugman and Tony Randall in "The Odd Couple", a pretty decent sitcom from the 60's and 70's. In one episode Felix and Oscar talked about who would live longer, the fussy guy who ate right and took care of himself or the slob who didn't. They decided the fussy guy would live longer but they would both be happy just being themselves. Ironic then how the guy who played the slob (Klugman) lived to age 90 while the guy who played Felix (Tony Randall) only lived to age 84. It was said that the actors were pretty similar to the characters they played.
at the big Danny's in the Sky
Loved the Odd Couple and Quincy. I have a craving for a hot dog with lots of mustard and a cold beer. RIP Jack.
Nobody could play an every-man like him. I giggle to myself remembering the freeze shot in the Odd Couple theme, Felix picking up a cigar with the end of an umbrella and Oscar seemingly looking back saying "what?". Fun TV.
Can only imagine Heaven tonite........
Felix giving Oscar a hard time for not wiping his feet before entering the Pearly Gates. They don`t make shows like that anymore. RIP Jack--
As I think back to Quincy, I am trying to remember a show with this theme previous to that and can not come up with anything that combined the two professions. Now, there are several shows with the same theme. Enough... I will miss him but his reruns will live forever.
PS.. If you read this article again, ask yourself what he and Johnny Carson had in common as they grew old. We could and should learn a lot from these two, if you figure it out.
