In all of my frustrations of being a Vikings fan over many years, I was completely wrong about Coach Leslie Frazier this year. His insistence on staying with Ponder as QB was correct. I have to give him credit for sticking with what he thought was right and best for the team while thousands of us grumbled and complained. Congrats to Coach Frazier and the Vikings and good luck on winning next week.

I have to give Ponder some credit, he wasn't great but got the job done. The defense has been incredible the last few weeks. Keep it up!

"Ponder has guided the Vikings to three consecutive victories...." Poor choice of words. Everyone knows that Adrian and the defense has GUIDED this team to their recent winning streak and Ponder has just been along for the ride. In fact, there's an argument to be made that Blair Walsh has been more pivotal to the Vikings' success than Ponder has. Let's give credit where credit is due, Souhan.

Ponder is a second year quarterback with no wide receivers that could start for any of our division opponents. He is in a run first offense and usually throws only in third and long. All that said, his play is about where one would expect. Some good, some bad. QB progression is a roller-coaster, not a ramp. Thank goodness none of whiners on this site make personnel decisions. Alex Smith is not an upgrade.

Ponder was very successful and more accurate in the first half than the second. I swear I noticed a change in his throwing motion during that streak of completions. Later in the game he seemed to revert to type. I know they had worked on his mechanics and am wondering if he forgot the training again as the game progressed. Similar to forgetting the training as they got further from training camp which he also seemed to do.

Without the great play of the defense or Walsh, we would have lost. Ponder has yet to WIN a game for us. His fumble could have really turn the game against us but our defense bailed him out. Ponder played like a decent backup QB yesterday. The offensive line probably had one of their worst games of the year, but the defense stood tall. Still waiting for Ponder's breakout game.

I think Ponder has earned the right to show what he can do next year when he may have a receiver. The player no one is talking about is Harrison Smith. Without his hit at the goal line there would not have been a goal line stand. He also stood up the back on second down. Sack, forced fumble, recovered fumble, nice hit on Johnson, all over the field. Defensive rookie of the year.

Sounds like most Vikings fans are excited, because Ponder played arguably his best game in his career yet he only had 50% competition rate and 81 passer rating. Is that really how low our expectations for Ponder are? PA said Ponder played a very efficient game. 50% completion and 170 yards EFFIEICENT? Really? Matt Schaub had very similar passing numbers, but most people are saying he played poorly, not efficient. Ponder kept the drives alive, made some 3rd down conversions, and didn't turn the ball over. These are expectations you have for your Back-Up QB who has to fill in for a game. Not your QB of the future who is suppose to lead this team. Ponder after 2 years has ZERO accuracy downfield and that has NOTHING to do with our WR quality. He's not a game changer. The Vikings are doing a great job, making due with him. Ponder better not be our Starter next year!! We shouldn’t be pleased or happy with a less than average NFL QB.

The people who get "overly" optimistic need to be more realistic as a fan about Ponder. As a fan, you want to think he's going to change, keep developing, turn into something he'll never be. Let's be honest. This Texans game was the "Upside" of Ponder and that's really not too great. Ponder will never be a top 15 NFL QB, he'll never be able to throw downfield well even if we got much better WR's. Ponder is what he is. In fact, Ponder's passer rating after 25 games is identical to T-Jacks when he started for us. 75 passer rating average.
