After an easy win, and the return of Trevor Mbakwe to the starting lineup, the season now takes a seismic shift.

A win vs. a softy is not helping us prove we are ready for the Big Ten football, err basketball season. I wish we were playing tougher non-con teams to really test the starting 5 and the next 5-6 off the bench. Ok, Laffyette, thanks for showing up and getting spanked by 25. I pray this is the year we finally beat MSU. Finally.

Thought the starting five looked really lackluster for most of that game. The second five played much better and harder. Nice to get a win but everyone is going to need to play a lot harder when B1G opponents come to town.

A sloppy game against a weak team. Tubby needs to hire a consultant to teach the team how to run an offense and attack a zone defense.

Lets not get too high of expectations, until they get a few Big 10 wins, especially on the road.

I remember a year when the Gophers did very well and then later had it all stripped away. Is this team going to do the same? What is different now than back then? Why should I have confidence that this will not happen all over again? Give me a reason to care!

On one hand it was great tosee all the points we were able toget in the paint. Unfortunately points will be harder to get the real season which starts on New Years Eve. The only way they will be able to open the inside is by making some mid range and three pointers. And let's hope the Hollins, Mav, Dre and Otto can make a few. So far it's been inconsistent. I cant wait to hear the Barn rock!

Wow, this team must be making strides when people are complaining about a 25-point win. Here's the thing: this was the last non-conference game which means it was the last opportunity the team will have for a while to get the reserves significant minutes. Moreover, when the bench players do get in the game, they will be more than likely playing alongside the other starters, rather than each other. I thought Mav, Welch, Oto and Andre Ingram all looked pretty good during the minutes they played tonight and should provide good minutes off the bench this season.

Brace yourself for the Tubby meltdown. Up against the likes of Izzo and most of the rest of the Big Ten coaching fraternity Tubby has no chance of helping this team win. Unfortunately, talent alone is not enough in the Big Ten. With any decent coaching this club should finish in the top 3 when the conference season is said and done. Won't happen. Prepare yourself for another disappointing and ess than mediocre 6th or 7th place finish.

What was learned from this game? First, the Lafayette could probably be beaten by a good D2 team. The gophers overwhelmed them with athletic talent, and their bench. As the game went on, things got sloppy, Lafayette got tired, and half way through the second half we got to see some reserves proving the bench is there. However, everybody is saying the same thing here. Bring on the big ten teams and prove it. Sorry for not elevating my hopes, and I truly do hope this team does well, but I am going to wait and see.
