The USA can no longer afford to police the entire world. 10 years of war in Iraq and Afgan. have changed our ability to respond to other crisis. Maybe it is time we stop being the world's police and take care of our own.
At this point, it should be obvious that American involvement in these conflicts, no matter how well intentioned, does not help. I hope we remain idle and let the citizens of the middle east take responsibility for their circumstances.
There are so many places in the world where people suffer, especially children. But, how can we be everywhere? Should we be in Africa too? When we do go somewhere our motives are then questioned to the point we are occupiers to the native people. Not only that, but when we do use our armed forces to stop the killing we are supposed to do it in a way that civilians never get hurt, only the bad guys. Unfortunately, usually the bad guys are right where the civilians and women and children are. I would say Iraq was a stupid war because we didn't increase our nation's security. Afghanistan was needed to get Al-Queda but we now need to get out. The cost of staying there is just too high when the people there don't want us and are unable to stand up to the Taliban. What a mess.
