Sen. Kerry will do a fine job, but it's unfortunate that the Republicans got their way on this one. Their complaints had nothing to do with Rice at all (after all, one Condoleeza Rice made far more inaccurate statements with much larger and costlier consequences) but rather they wanted Kerry to get the job so they can try and get Scott Brown back in the Senate. Let's hope that Massachusetts doesn't make that mistake twice.
Ben Affleck should run for Kerry's old seat!

That's the kind of thinking that stalls progression in what we expect from our leaders. I'm glad Kerry is going to be nominated. I think he'll do a fine job. Rice took herself out of the running. If she couldn't handle the heat of something like this, she made the right decision.
You mean Susan Rice? Condoleeza Rice wasn't in the running for Sec. of State.
The appointment of John Kerry is what the Republicans wanted. Now they can have Scott Brown run for the Senate seat in Massachusetts. It had nothing to do with Susan Rice, and everyone knows that. President Obama fell for this bully tactic by the right and John Mccain.
I've heard that a Kennedy is planning on running for the MA Senate seat opening up with John Kerry's confirmation as Secretary of State. I wonder if Scott Brown stands even a whif of a chance against a Kennedy in Massachusetts.
I look forward to seeing Scott Brown get his butt kicked once again.
He got the nomination? Wonder why the long face?
If this is what the GOP really wanted then please explain to me WHY Obama would nominate him then? If Obama or the Dems thought they'd lose the seat Kerry would NOT have been nominated.
palsar - Exactly. Not sure why liberals want to find a negative in EVERYTHING.
