It was from lost revenues from the Bush tax cuts (that did nothing to stimulate the economy) and the cost of the 2 conflicts (notice I didn't call them wars becuz they were not declared wars by congress). Prior to the tax cuts, unemployment was rising (up to 6.3 in June 2003) . When the 2003 tax cuts kicked in, unemployment dropped and continued to do so for about 4 years (4.4 by June 2007) along with increasing the federal revenue - from 793.7 billion in 2003 to 1,163.5 billion in 2007 ------- and the cost of the 2 conflicts (notice I didn't call them wars becuz they were not declared wars by congress). radster63, what is it with the DEMS and the blame game? Sandy, the drought, the snowstorm, George Bush, we know we know how it happened, can we do something fix it besides tax 2% of the people and run up 1.3 trillion a year in deficits? There needs to be massive cuts that never seem to happen, this wont work without them.
