Boehner is a terrible negotiator. The compromise being negotiated is a joke. Republicans need to start standing up to Obama. If he wants to continue spending like a drunk sailor - fine, but you're going to have to pay for it now. Everyone's taxes are going up. We really need to grow up in this country. We're spending $100 for every $60 we're taking in and we're letting the Federal Reserve 'buy' the other $40 worth of bonds. In other words, we're simply printing the money. This cannot last. This is treasonous. Inflation will catch up with us. We need to grow up and start paying our bills.

Doesnt this position Boehner as the moderate stuck between the hard right (tea partiers) and the hard left (Obama)?

Conservatives have been claiming hyperinflation is just around the corner for four years now. What's inflation right now? 1.8%, the same as in 2002, and had reached 5.4% under GWB. How about the cost of gas? $3.24 compared to $4.12 under GWB. You can't raise prices if consumers won't pay.

It's pretty simple: You have givers & takers. The givers are the hard working taxpaying ones and the takers are the perpetual program beneficiaries that voted for Obama. How long are the hardworking taxpayers folks going to agree to keep funding this madness? We're all going down folks if adults don't take control of the playground in Washington.

mom2four: hard working tax payer for 45 years here --voted for Obama. I figured out the hit I would take if we go over the "fiscal cliff" and find it doable if I trim a few non-necessities. As my republican grandfather used to say: don't complain about your taxes because it is a sign you are making money.
