RAISE YOUR HAND if you want Day care and Health care providers to be be FORCED to join a public employee Union..........just as I figured, only hands up are the usual hard core DFL liberals.
Raise your hand if you think any looney social "reform" bill from Minnesota's Republican legislators will a) ever get a vote in the legislature b) make sense c) not be total waste because of a) and b), or d) all of the above... All those still with raised hands please refer to election results of November 2012. And yes, you may go to the rest room.
Gov Dayton needs to tread carefully - its over reach like this that lead to Michigan's right to work vote. At this point it does look like a payback for votes. It also seems reasonable to surmise that unionization will lead to accelerating costs for day care and home health care - that will hurt young families and those with elderly parents. Not good.
It is a farce for any Republican to be crying hoarse about unions. The Republican party in Minnesota ruled both the house and senate. They had the means and ability to pass a referendum to make MN a right to work state. They did nothing of that sort. The party led by Joyce Peppin put all their energy in passing a referendum question to ban gay marriage. We know how it went down. Now that Republicans are back in minority they have started crowing about the economy. If they are back in majority they will again spend time on women's choice and the pledge and those types of divisive social issues.
I believe in Unions, but not in day care...somethings need to be left alone
Nice rant, upnort, but the election occurred a month and a half ago. Your election analysis is great, but not relevant to the story.
Hey Mary...you won by eleven votes. You're in the minority now and completely irrelevant. Propose anything you want...we know just where to file it.
DFL is pro choice until it comes time to provide freedom to make your own choice on joining a union
The unions are a small special interest group (11%) that treat our DFL politicians like puppets without regard for taxpayers or consumers who end up paying the tab.
Yeah... keep those daycare workers down on the farm. Why would we want them get their lifestyle to the category of lower middle class. Obviously this lady is only interested in helping the middle class as all good republicans do.... oh, wait a minute... hmmmmm Let me start again.. keep them down on the farm.....
